October 26 Meeting

Keith Patridge, President of the McAllen Economic Development Corporation will be the guest speaker at the McAllen Citizens League noon luncheon. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday October 26 at the Salvation Army Center on 23rd Street at Pecan in McAllen. “We are currently facing some challenges with declining sales tax revenue”, said Christopher Julian President of the League. “We hope Keith will give us a ray of sunshine”, Julian added.

April 27th Meeting

The McAllen Citizens League will host the contested McAllen City Commission race at its noon lunch meeting on Thursday April 27. Both candidates for District 2, Incumbent Trey Pebley and challenger Joaquin Zamora, have confirmed their attendance. “This will be the last political forum we’ll host prior to the May 6th election,” said Christopher Julian, League President. The League’s forum format allows each candidates two minute opening comments then a one follow-up/ rebuttal. After all candidates have spoken, questions from League members will be asked.

March 23rd meeting

The McAllen Citizens League will host the McAllen ISD Board of Trustees Candidates during its noon luncheon meeting on Thursday March 23. The meeting will be held at the Salvation Army Center on North 23rd Street & Pecan in McAllen.
“This is the second of three Political Forums planned before the May election”, said Christopher Julian, President of the League.
All school board candidates have been invited to this forum. This includes Place 3 candidates Debbie Crane Aliseda, Mark Dougherty & Raul A. Moreno, Place 6, Larry Esparza & Homer Martinez & Place 7 Lynse Guerra & Sam Saldivar, Jr.
The Leagues forum format allows each candidate a 2 minute opening comments and a 1 minute follow up after all candidates have spoken. Then questions from League members only will be asked.

Citizens League to host 449th Runoff Candidates

 

McAllen Citizens League has invited the run-off candidates for

the 449th State District Court, Incumbent Jesse Contreras and challenger

Renee Betancourt to speak at their lunch meeting on Thursday, April 28th.

The meeting will be held at the Salvation Army Center located on 23rd and

Pecan.

 

The political forum allows each candidate a two-minute introduction and a one-minute follow-up/rebuttal. After the candidates have spoken, they will

answer questions that are submitted by League members only.

 

“This will be our last political forum for this for this election cycle”, said

Christopher Julian, McAllen Citizens League president.

 

The meetings are open to the public and lunch is available for $12 for

League members and $15 for non-members. Annual membership dues are

only $10 a year.
